the plan:
a large group of noise/experimental audio performers to descend upon melbourne’s botanical gardens for a live daytime performance. 

how we plan to get away with it:
the group will perform using battery powered silent intruments (laptops, pedals, circuit bent toys, etc). the audio will be broadcast using radio transmitters. 

how the audience will experience the performance:
by bringing along a fm receiver (walkman, transitor radio, anything that recieves FM radio), audience members will tune into the radio signal. performers will be set up along a pre-plannmed route. by walking along the performance route, each audience member will dictate their own experience by the speed of their journey and physical location.

A tip of the hat to MIUC's free jazz roots with the old-and-new-garde grouping of Ren Walters, James Mclean, Scott McConnachie, Brett Evans andChristopher Young kicks off proceedings; with the speaker-shredding aural violence that is Death By Cones quickly following to ensure you know for sure it's 2013. Two of the most beautiful extended voices in Melbourne, Carolyn Connors and Emma Albury, as well as two of the most terrifyingly grimm extended voices in Melbourne, Emma Albury and the entity known as Voidhanger, team up with the terrifyingly beautiful guitar of Alex Garsden for a cult collaboration of the most brutal/beautiful/brutiful kind. Bum Creek and Wife revive their awesomely confusing and confusingly awesome battle royale/collaboration for those unfortunate enough to have missed it at MIUC in early 2012. Seriously humongous and gracious thanks to Sean Baxter, Stephen Richards, Lloyd Honeybrook, Kerrie Farnsworth, previous organises, supporters and everyone at Bar Open for keeping Make It Up Club running all these years. I first experienced MIUC as a performer in 2007. Having never really played completely unplanned live improvised music before, Sean threw me into a group with Robbie Avenaim, Max Kohane and Ray Ahn and effectively re-configured my perspective on what music can be. Through MIUC, I've been fortunate enough to see countless mind-blowing performances, introduce new people to improvised music, collaborate with a variety of fantastic people, and have an invaluable outlet for experimentation and new ideas. Going to MIUC gigs as a punter, there's an atmosphere of community and respect that makes it unlike any other gig around. Always a rewarding and fun experience.

This week at Make It Up Club: THE END (of this year's programming) and, if you believe those Nibiruists, one of your last chances to hear some killer improvised sounds before Melbourne is reduced to a smoldering wasteland. Accordingly, we've tried to cover many of our favourite facets of improvised music! Angus Leslie and Jenny Barnes tear away at the cultural implications of the masculine and feminine voice, respectively, to lay bare the decontextualised sonics of the human vocal cords - aided ably by bassist James Pankhurst as something-resembling-a-rhythm-section-to-hold-it-all-together. Two of our fine city's finest and well-defined guitar manipulators, Dave Brown and Gearoid Brinn, will be there as well to ensure you contemplate life, the sonoverse and everything before it all ends - aided, hindered and complicated by percussionist/stuff-hitter Sean Baxter as something-resembling-a-rhythm-section-to-ensure-nothing-crystallises-too-fully. And just in case your existential angst becomes overwhelming, FUCKED are always happy to lend a hand by smacking all conscious thought out of your head with Robbie Avenaim's hyperspeed blastbeats, dematerialising them with Lloyd Honeybrook's dense feedback frequencies and having Nik Kennedy scream at them as they rot on the floor, distracting and lulling you out of existence by means of noisecore.
