FUCKED @ MIUC - 18/12/2012

This week at Make It Up Club: THE END (of this year's programming) and, if you believe those Nibiruists, one of your last chances to hear some killer improvised sounds before Melbourne is reduced to a smoldering wasteland. Accordingly, we've tried to cover many of our favourite facets of improvised music! Angus Leslie and Jenny Barnes tear away at the cultural implications of the masculine and feminine voice, respectively, to lay bare the decontextualised sonics of the human vocal cords - aided ably by bassist James Pankhurst as something-resembling-a-rhythm-section-to-hold-it-all-together. Two of our fine city's finest and well-defined guitar manipulators, Dave Brown and Gearoid Brinn, will be there as well to ensure you contemplate life, the sonoverse and everything before it all ends - aided, hindered and complicated by percussionist/stuff-hitter Sean Baxter as something-resembling-a-rhythm-section-to-ensure-nothing-crystallises-too-fully. And just in case your existential angst becomes overwhelming, FUCKED are always happy to lend a hand by smacking all conscious thought out of your head with Robbie Avenaim's hyperspeed blastbeats, dematerialising them with Lloyd Honeybrook's dense feedback frequencies and having Nik Kennedy scream at them as they rot on the floor, distracting and lulling you out of existence by means of noisecore.

- Sean Baxter (Percussion), Gearoid Brinn (Guitar) & Dave Brown (Guitar)

- Angus Leslie (Voice), James Pankhurst (Bass) & Jenny Barnes (Voice)

- FUCKED feat. Robbie Avenaim (Hellish Crossfire On Wooden Coffins), Nik Kennedy (Blastgargling) and Lloyd Honeybrook (Howls of the Feedbax)

UMBILICAL TENTACLE @ DISCOBEANS MONDAY - 03/12/2012

UMBILICAL TENTACLE
Rambunctious moshgrindsurfpartynoisecore, dancefloor destroyers, manic mullets, cowbells and more!! With Yuka (vocals/electronics), Nik (vocals/instruments/electronics) and Brad (drums/hitting).
http://letsnoise.blogspot.com.au/p/umbilical-tentacle.html

TODD ANDERSON-KUNERT
Audiovisual doom, noise and drone.
http://www.toddanderson-kunert.com/

ZAC KEILLER
Zac Keiller seeks to discover new and unique sonic textures from one of the most overused and unimaginatively approached instruments in Western music: The guitar. The majority of his previous releases saw him working with ambient textures or electroacoustic improvisation. Whilst more recent efforts have seen him limiting the use of pedals, attempting to find a kind of transcendence through stark purity of tone, using the entire guitar, attempting to make it breathe with no smoothing out of the rough edges or slick over processing. The compositions vary and grow to tell stories and create mood, with an atmosphere in parts epic wall of sound, while at others minimal and sublime.

UMBILICAL TENTACLE @ Bendigo Hotel - 29/11/2012

UMBILICAL TENTACLE - partynoisecore
Brutal cowbells and crushing blasts of epic proportion propel disgruntled and abrasive electronic noise whilst screams of chaos and delight smash your head from side to side in a whizzing like motion.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Umbilical-Tentacle/236960959679691

WARPIGS - meandering dissonance

Like wandering a field somewhere in Russia, you look up and all you can see are the power lines and you just can't stop thinking about Grandpa.

FUNERAL MOON - black metal
Featuring members of monster doom metal band Spacebong. Relentless and bleak with curdling screams that will leave you haunted.

NOÛS - devastating doom
Easily one of the most punishing doom bands Australia has to offer. Anyone that has not yet had the chance to see or hear this band really needs to check them out.

GALACTAGOGUE
Intense noise and frowning. Your brain, deep fried.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Tc53cEBl44

RORY BROWN & NIK KENNEDY

Brown (double bass) and Kennedy (vocals/processing/electronics) reprise their duo of haunting electro-organic noisescapes.

MONOLITH

Primitive minimalist industrial drone bleakness.

REUBEN INGALL

Reuben Ingall (Canberra) sings and plays guitar through an array of home-made software patches controlled by a DIY footswitch, to create sad-pop buried in glitchy psychedelia.

TRANSMISSIONS
'Transmissions' operates as the guise of Nick McCorriston, sound designer and producer. He's a graduate in Sound Design at VCA and Sound Production at RMIT, and has recently realised a dream of turning his beloved childhood Nintendo Power Glove into a wireless musical instrument, which he uses to awake a childlike sense of playfulness in his set.

HOLY BONER @ Make It Up Club - 06/11/2012

This week, some improvised music to make you think! One of the great improv-shitcore duos has been resurrected as a trio: Holy Boner with added Rodney J. Cooper on handmade guitar as a permanent member. This is improvised noise-grind, somewhere between the most extreme avant garde classical music, and the most extreme grindcore, with abstracted noise as the mediator. Smash Tennis is a new duo of raw electro-acoustics with a punk attitude and a philosopher’s depth of interrogation. And Satyrs, exploring the outside limits of multiple synth-drone.

• Holy Boner, featuring: Nik Kennedy (Bass, Vocals), Brad Smith (Drums, Vocals) and Rod Cooper (Guitar, Vocals)
• Smash Tennis, featuring: Llara (Drumkit, Acid free tape) and Samaan (Guitar, Acid free tape)
• Satyrs, featuring: Jesse Dimmock (Saxophone, synth, drum machine), Alez Glasov (Synth) and Cooper Bowman (Synth)

HOLY BONER @ Club Voltaire - 20/10/2012

Holy Boner is back! Now with added Rod Cooper on handmade guitar/vocals, we've stripped the sound back and returned to the original vision for HxBx, which is, quite simply - TOTAL DESTRUCTION NOISECORE!!! Inspired by our favourite noisecore and noisy grind bands like GBN, Arse Destroyer, Last Days of Humanity and Final Exit, but we're using modified and hand-made instruments, vocal effects and other nifty tricks to create our own sound.
Here's a sample:

And we have a gig:

An exploration of the most insulting, abrasive, and generally fucking batshit music we can find, joyously flittling from ambient electronica to heavy jazz to metal, with generous helpings of white-noise across the board.

Event The First: featuring Bommy Knocker, Nyquistx, Holy Boner and dropbunny.

Located in the most sneaky venue in Melbourne, Club Voltaire, which offers some of the cheapest booze around, an awesomely eclectic bookstore, and an intimate space for some horrific noisemaking.

Doors open from half 6, first band is on at 7 so get in early. $5 entry.

Sex workers in Thailand don't want anything special..just the same protections, benefits and rights as other workers and members of society. "World Grind Domination" @ MIUC 11/09/2012

Some great new collaborations, and a long awaited soloist this week at MIUC. Pete Warden has been making some pretty strange instruments in recent times, and performing on them under the name of Onion Engine. For this show, he has recruited his comrades from Electric Jellyfish, along with some additional guests, to let the psychedelic, outsider-garde sonics fly. World Grind Domination, features some of our favourite avant metalists in a new double voice/double blastbeat quartet. Brutal! And Harriet Morgan with her signature, abstracted black-metal-inspired grimcore solo project.

 • Onion Engine, featuring: Pete (ticks, pots and bits of tin), Adam (low strings and wires), Jake (bill the modified guitar and tuna tins), Mike(high screechy strings)
• World Grind Domination, featuring: Pete Hyde (voice), Brad Smith(drums), Max Kohane (drums) and Nik Kennedy (voice)
• HKM, AKA: Harriet K Morgan (blackened bass and tape collage)

This show is also celebrating Discobeans' 2nd Anniversary (as a restaurant, I think?), and I think we've put together a line-up that really reflects the Discobeans Monday vibe of putting on varied music/noise line-ups where anything goes!
Massive thanks to Yuka and her staff for all their hard work running the restaurant and the bar and keeping the place going. Venues like Discobeans are pretty rare these days sadly. I'm grateful to be involved, to watch people play music there, and play there myself. Cheers to everyone who supports Yuka and Discobeans!

DEATH BY CONES @ MIUC - 26/06/2012

Next up at MIUC we focus on sonic abstraction utilising density-variation from analogue sources. The 13th annual Liquid Architecture festival of sound arts is upon us again, and thanks to LA, we have one of their featured artists, visionary Berlin-based improviser and sound sculptor Werner Dafeldecker, performing in collaboration with Melbourne’s Sean BaxterDeath By Cones, a monstrous quartet exploring the physical limits of the speaker cone, featuring four experts in the field of brutal noise. And, a duo of sublime, psychoacoustic energy featuring Rodney J Cooper and Leith Thomas, employing 2 of Cooper’s hand-made creations.
• Werner Dafeldecker (Berlin) (live samper and tape delay) and Sean Baxter (percussive junk)
• Death By Cones, featuring: Mark Groves (brutal junk metal and electronic noise/Hartke amp), Nik Kennedy (brutal oral noise/Warwick amp), Tom Miller (brutal motor noise/Toilet amp) and Mark Skelton (brutal slut noise/Peavey amp)

+ DEER HEAD APPARITION
"No core members" improvisation collective, featuring: anyone.
http://wagonbroadcastservice.org/deerhead/

+ STEVE LAW
A highlight performer at Discobeans last year. Avant-garde analogue electronics from one of Australia's most meticulous sound crafters, via a modular synth about the size of a bar fridge... and other mysterious devices...

+ DARK PASSENGER
Active since 2009, with appearances on releases for local labels Vacant Valley and Iceage Productions. His sound is in a constant flux, yet a sole aim is in creating a stream of sound with a degraded metallic tinge. Sometimes cacophonous, often desolate though always foreboding; inspired by the many lost souls walking the forgotten back roads of the world.

+ HEILSGESCHICHTE
The duo of Kevin CK Lo and Trent Brown, mashing together and mashing out all manner of fucked sounds using instruments you thought you once knew.

SFHS and THE KILL new tunes + news

Blastasfuk's Soundcloud page has some new SFHS and The Kill tunes from some of our upcoming releases. Which are...

Super Fun Happy Slide - Drop Ya Pants & Grind!! CD - long overdue 2nd album, currently being mixed & mastered by our drummer/turd-polishing wizard Brad Smith.

The Kill - Make 'Em Suffer CD/LP - full-length album, currently being mastered. CD version on Blastasfuk, LP version on To Live A Lie Records (USA).

The Kill/Mortalized (Jap) split 7" EP on Haunted Hotel Records
The Kill/Lycanthrophy (Czech) split 7" EP not sure what label
The Kill/Captain Cleanoff (Aus) split 7" EP not sure what label

The Kill will also be recording again very soon for a 3-way split with Noisear (USA) and Antigama (Poland) ! Brand new tracks containing some of Roby's most insanely over-the-top riffs ever, and meaningful lyrical topics such as hiding dissected corpses in your house, and murdering the bloke in the Santa suit at a shopping centre.
And! We're also doing a 5" split with White Eyes (USA)!

SFHS will do something new as soon as someone gives us money to bring Den up from Tassie!
